Ickworth House, Park and Gardens  Ickworth House, Park and Gardens

Ickworth is one of England's most extraordinary houses. A neoclassical mansion with its famous 'Rotunda', it was begun in 1795 as the inspiration of the 4th Earl of Bristol - the 'Earl-Bishop'. It holds a major collection of paintings including works by Titian, Hogarth, Reynolds, Gainsborough, Velázquez, plus fine furniture, Italian porcelain and Georgian silver. Enjoy four square miles of landscaped parkland and the earliest Italianate garden in the UK with its formal box hedges and Mediterranean planting. Follow waymarked woodland walks and cycle routes, have an adventure in the children's playground. Stop for a cup of tea at the Porter's Lodge Café or a seasonal lunch in the excellent West Wing Restaurant. Or browse in the National Trust Shop or the Plant Centre for those special gifts.
