RSPB Rainham Marshes is a unique nature reserve which has been restored to a grazing marshland following 100 years of use as a MoD shooting range. A fully accessible nature trail allows you to experience nature firsthand throughout the seasons. The marshes are home to a variety of birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals and invertebrates. To get more out of the reserve why not have a look at the events on offer for all interests. You may also want to make use of the kids adventure play area or within the award winning visitor centre there is a café with great views of the marshes and river Thames and gift shop. The visitor centre and reserve is open all year round offering a great day out for everyone.

Car park: voluntary £1 donation. Reserve: Free to RSPB members and residents of Havering and Thurrock. Non-members: £3 adult, £1.50 child, £9 family (two adults and up to four children). There are extra costs for some events - please check when you book.

By Road:
The reserve is located off New Tank Hill Road (A1090) in Purfleet, just off the A1306 between Rainham and Lakeside. This is accessible from the Aveley, Wennington and Purfleet junction off the A13 and J30/31 of the M25.
There are bike racks and spaces for disabled badge holders.

By Public Transport:
Purfleet train station is on the C2c line from Fenchurch Street. The reserve is a 15 minute walk from the station following the brown pedestrian signs along the riverside path.
The ensignbus number 44 between Lakeside and Orsett Hospital, Grays, stops near the reserve entrance on New Tank Hill Road. This bus runs every hour and every 30 minutes during peak hours. For timetable information please visit www.ensignbus.co.uk or call 01708 865656.
