The Southwold Amber Museum at The Amber Museum

A specially created museum to tell the story and history of amber, by Astrid and Robin Fournel, owners of the oldest and largest amber specialist retailer in the UK.
Robin has, for many years, been giving talks on Amber and through these talks he has learned the questions people wish to ask and with this in mind, the Museum addresses these questions. It is done with explanation boards adjacent to displays of examples of the Amber.
The Museum has artefacts, carvings, jewellery and objects d'art from the Whole Amber World; both modern and antique. It also houses many large examples of Amber found on the English coast - including the largest at 2.2kilo.
The Museum has visitors from all the world and approximately 70,000 people visit each year filling our visitor's book with wonderful comments of appreciation and praise for this small and excellent museum.
The museum is small, but attracts visitors from all over the world. It exhibits stunning examples of beautiful amber carvings, models, both antique and modern with full descriptions of how they were created. And, of course, there are many examples with 40,000,000 year old insects trapped within the amber.
