Mountfitchet Castle is a unique historic time capsule which is situated on its original site and steeped in history. This famous site was formerly an Iron Age settlement, a Roman Signals Fort and later a Saxon and Viking settlement. Mountfitchet Castle enables you to travel back in time to Norman England of 1066. Hidden behind the wooden palisade, you can wander in and out of the houses and view the scenes, smell the log fires burning and experience the ambience of an ancient bygone lifestyle.
