Snowdrops in February. In addition to the gardens, the buildings are also interesting, comprising a mined stone Norman keep - the only vernacular Norman stonework in Hertfordshire. 1838 neo-Norman folly built by James Pulham and an early Georgian manor house with an Edwardian veranda.

Special openings: Easter and May Bank Holiday Weekends - Sundays 2-5pm and Mondays 12-5pm. Herts Gardens Trust Spring Fair - 5th May, 11-4pm. Floral Festival - 25th and 26th June, 12-6pm. Chilli Festival - 28th and 29th August, 1000-1700.
