Outstanding herbaceous borders, rose garden and kitchen garden. Snowdrops in February. In addition to the gardens, the buildings are also interesting, comprising a mined stone Norman keep - the only vernacular Norman stonework in Hertfordshire. 1838 neo-Norman folly built by James Pulham and an early Georgian manor house with an Edwardian verandah.

Special openings: Easter and May Bank Holiday Weekends - Sundays 2-5pm (guided walk 3pm) and Mondays 12-5pm. Herts Gardens Trust Sale - 3rd May, 12-5pm. Floral Festival - 26th and 27th June, 12-6pm. Herbaceous Border Festival - 28th June to 4th July, daily 2-5pm. Chilli Festival - 29th and 30th August, 1000-1700.
