Wilshamstead is more commonly referred to as Wilstead and is a village which is bypassed by the A6 Bedford to Luton road. Most of its dwellings are modern. The parish church has a particularly fine Perpendicular wooden nave roof with carved bosses. The tower was rebuilt in 1852 and the chancel is also Victorian.

Wilstead is located a few miles south of Bedford on the A6 Bedford to Luton Road, and can be accessed from the A600 Bedford to Hitchin Road near to the village of Cotton End.
