Last heard in South Creake in 2013 Katherine Broderick returns with a programme designed to showcase her great versatility.

Intimate songs by Debussy and Faure´ will be followed by Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder, five songs set to words by Matthilde Wesendonck, wife of the composer’s great patron. The songs were composed while Wagner was working on his operaTristan und Isolde. The programme will include a selection of arias from operas in which Katherine has performed in recent seasons.

Katherine was born in Lancashire and studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama where she won the Gold Medal in 2007, the same year in which she was awarded the coveted Kathleen Ferrier Award. She has been a member of the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe for the past two seasons. There, her roles included Sieglinde, the title role in Adriana Lecouvreur by Cilea, and Vitellia in La clemenza di Tito. In January this year she scored a huge success as Isolde at the Ope´ra de Montpellier, receiving lavish praise from the French press for “her youthful radiance, purity and vocal power”. Next season she will sing Bru¨nnhilde at the Concertgebouw,Miss Jessel inTurn of the Screw at Garsington, and return to Montpellier in the title role of Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos.

Libby Burgess makes her debut at NNMF. She read music at Oxford where she was the first female organ scholar at Christ Church Cathedral. She is on the music staff at Eton College where she holds the post of In House Accompanist. Her career involves working with singers and choirs, and she is the founding director of ‘New Paths’, a new festival in Yorkshire.
