Frogmore Mill

Frogmore Mill

Frogmore Mill,
Fourdrinier Way, Aspley,
Hemel Hempstead,

Frogmore Paper Mill is a visitor destination with a real difference, offering a unique experience of exploration, fin and entertainment in an industrial setting. At its heart is an historic paper machine dating from 1895.

Visitors are in for a treat, not only will they see exhibitions, audio visual presentations, the restored 1938 Dennis Ace Fire Engine, but they will get to have a go at hand paper making and take a tour around the historic paper mill itself.

On the guided tour visitors will be shown the site of the world's first working Fourdinier paper machine and the mill race where once the powerful water wheels were sited that drove the first machine in 1803. They will then be shown the 'new' paper machine (itself dating from 1895) with a full explanation of its workings. Although now static, the paper machine is still an amazing site and a genuine feat of engineering.

To complete the visit, stop for refreshments a the cafe overlooking the River Gade and then browse in the gift shop for an array of papers, greeting cards and craft materials. In the warmer months, visitors will be able to take a trip along the River Gade and Grand Union Canal on the centres own ferry boat, the Bryan Donkin.

Some of our visitor's comments:

'A fantastic family day out' Buckinghamshire.
'Absolutely fascinating' South Wales.
'Best value for money I have had for years. Tour was brilliant.' Bristol.
