It is located in the centre of the traditional sailing village of Pin Mill on the shore of the unspoilt tidal Orwell estuary, with uninterrupted views over the water from bedrooms and living rooms.
Pin Mill is well known to painters and photographers and there are many walks along the estuary shore and over adjacent farmland. The estuary is a haven for bird life. There is free access to the tidal water of the estuary as well as two boat yards and many deep water moorings.
Children’s’ author Arthur Ransome sailed at Pin Mill and based two of his books on a family staying at Alma Cottage. ‘We did nor mean to go to sea’ and Secret Water’.
