Description

The Angel Inn is a 17th century former coaching inn within 20 miles of the Cathedral city of Norwich and the historic towns of Bury St Edmunds, Thetford and Wymondham and has been run over the years by three different generations of the same family.

Currently run by the great grandson, this family public house offers you a great wealth of charm and character. Serving five guest ales on hand pump, including a mild beer and a collection of over 100 different whiskies are also available.

In August 2011, The Angel Inn will be holding its 18th Annual Beer Festival. The largest outdoor beer festival in Norfolk. Over 100 real ales and ciders are available during the weekend, with live music and BBQ foods.

The Angel’s heavily beamed public bar offers a good local feel with juke box, darts board and fruit machine. The whole atmosphere is brought together in the winter months by our large real log fire. The extremely comfortable lounge bar has several tables for dining at, with cushioned wheel back chairs and a long cushioned and oak panelled settle. The look is completed by oak panelling around the walls framed by a collection of over 100 water jugs and not forgetting the lovely warming wood burner. Our cosy beamed restaurant and further dining room are perfect for enjoying one of our freshly prepared lunches or dinners. The five bedrooms available for bed and breakfast are all with en-suite bathrooms and can be let for either single occupancy at £45.00 a night or double occupancy at £80 per room per night, all including a delicious full English breakfast.

Wherever possible we try to use locally produced foods for our highly extensive menu, which ranges from freshly made sandwiches, homemade daily specials of steak and kidney pie and large fresh fillet of cod cooked in a crispy Adnams bitter batter, to tender fillet steaks served with a rich and creamy peppercorn sauce.

Situated within the Brecks of Norfolk, The Angel Inn is close to Snetterton Racing Circuit and set on the edge of Thetford Forest, the largest lowland forest in Britain and close to several Country Parks, High Lodge, The Peddars Way which is linked to the North Norfolk coastal path, Thetford Heath and the Great Eastern Pingo Trail, a 8 mile round trip, all ideal for walkers, bird watching and cycling. For bird watching enthusiasts The National Centre for the British Trust for ornithology is based in the nearby market town of Thetford. We offer secure cycle storage and are able to cater for packed lunches and picnics on request.

On our country meadow of 4 acres we also offer caravan and camping sites during the summer months of March to October. Electric hook up points, showers and toilet facilities are all available with lovely open views over our own farmland. Pets ate strictly by prior arrangement only and prices on request.

We take great pride in our warm welcome at The Angel Inn and will try to do as much as possible to make your stay an extremely enjoyable one.
