Description

Each cottage has a private garden with loungers, barbecue etc as well as shared use of a further 7 acres of communal gardens. Each is individually styled and designed to make best use of its own unique features. Mill Race Cottage (2 bedrooms, sleeps 4) has a huge first floor open-plan living room with views over the river and a stunning plantsman’s garden with extensive direct river frontage. The Lodge, which also sleeps 4, is set in a large, half-acre, entirely walled garden (formerly the kitchen garden) with ancient fruit trees trained against the high walls. The Miller’s House, sleeps 8, spread over three floors, with stunning views over the river and gardens through its large, Georgian sash windows. It has 2 bedrooms on the ground floor and 2 on the top floor, with all the living space on the middle floor making it perfect for multi-generational or shared family holidays. The Nest (1 double bedroom) has a stunning terrace directly over the mill-stream and a recital quality grand piano.

Explore the river and its wildlife (otters, kingfishers etc.) from our canoes or rowing boat, while enjoying views almost unchanged since the artist Sir Alfred Munnings PRA lived and painted here (he was born in The Miller’s House in 1878).

Visitors have extensive coarse fishing (in season) on-site in the river and mill stream with plenty of perch, roach, chub and pike.
