Luxurious accommodation in a historic Grade II country house set in a conservation area, 5 minutes from Lavenham, Long Melford and Sudbury.
The Old Rectory Country House
The Old Rectory Country House lies on the edge of Great Waldingfield in Suffolk. We are perfectly located for visiting the many attractions that Suffolk offers be this on foot, by bike or car and can happily accommodate house parties or small conferences.
We have three large double en-suite bedrooms on the first floor (two super-king size). Our delightful period house is steeped in intriguing history dating back to Roman times. The Book of Psalms was produced here by John Hopkins, there are parts of St Michael’s Church, Cornhill here and carvings thought to be those of Grinley Gibbons. The house also has beautiful gardens with pool and tennis court.
Breakfast is a tasty selection of continental and traditional Suffolk with locally sourced produce. The light filled double aspect drawing room is available for guests with a stack of reading materials and an honesty bar.
With so much delightful countryside on our doorstep, we are happy to share our knowledge for visits, walks and cycle rides. We can store your cycles and provide a place for your muddy boots and will happily fill your flasks and provide a picnic for your day’s adventuring if given notice. Many of Suffolk’s amazing array of eateries are very nearby too. We welcome children and have the necessary furniture for smaller children and babies to save you some boot space. We also welcome well behaved dogs to stay in your room or join our friendly Labradors outside.
