Library dedicated to the 6,900 American airmen of the 2nd Air Division killed in action during WW2 flying from airfields in Norfolk and Suffolk.
The Memorial Library occupies 185m2 – with a collection of 4,000 books covering all aspects of American life and culture, with approximately a quarter related to the role of the 2nd Air Division, US 8th Army Air Force in World War II. Shrine area – reflecting its war memorial status, with the 2nd Air Division Roll of Honour which lists the 6,900 Airmen who died in action. A mural, 9m long depicts aspects of the ‘Friendly Invasion’, and there are models of assembly ships and paintings of aircraft and wartime life, plus an interactive video display.
