Alder Carr started as a family farm
One has to go back to 1981 to unearth the true origins of our family business. This was the year Nick & Joan Hardingham decided that something significant was missing from their lives.
The farm shop and courtyard craft centre are housed in attractive farm buildings on a fruit and vegetable farm. Fresh produce and local speciality foods are sold, plus pick-your-own. Beef is also produced from their own fold of Highland Cattle. The farm has laying hens and sheep. This hardy breed helps maintain the many meadows on the farm, gradually increasing their biodiversity. Crafts include pottery, paintings, flower arrangements, jewellery, celebration and cakes. Tearoom and restaurant specialising in fresh, local food. Children’s play area, gravel garden and riverside walks. Monthly farmer’s markets – please phone for details.
