Basket making for beginners – two day course.
Recharge yourself on our weekend course
I am very pleased to be able to offer this two day course. Participants spend a pleasant therapeutic weekend learning how to make a round shopping basket with a roped handle and a bread basket to take home and keep.
Held in the lovely Parish Hall, Walnut Hill in Surlingham, Norfolk NR14 7AG (about four miles south of Norwich). I will provide tools and materials, tea and coffee and expert tuition. It is an enjoyable experience and you will learn a life long skill. We commence 9.30 and finish around 4pm each day.
For those that have already attended a course there is the opportunity to learn how to make a small log basket with under foot base and twisted handles.

I make my baskets using and incorporating hand cut materials from the Norfolk countryside. These unique and beautiful baskets reflect the colour and diversity of Norfolk’s hedgerows.
The materials are naturally sustainable, cut, selected and crafted by hand.
Basket making using natural and local materials is an ancient tradition and an environmentally sound solution to a sustainable future.
I am immensely proud that I come from Norfolk and there is great beauty in the Norfolk hedgerows at any time of year; I aim to capture that beauty in my baskets.
Hedge basket is really the way that I describe my own basket style; they are rustic, shapely, colourful, useful and beautiful.
