A 15thC moated hall of outstanding beauty, set in 10 acres of gardens. Rich in architectural detail and history. Family home to the Gosnolds for 250 years from c1454, the most notable of whom was Bartholomew Gosnold who voyaged to the New World in 1602, named Cape Cod and Martha’s Vinyard, and returned in 1607 to found the Jamestown Settlement, the 1st English speaking settlement in the US. Links with Shakespeare’s Tempest. The gardens include re-creations of a medieval knot garden, designed by leading garden historian Sylvia Landsberg.
