Welcome to one of the oldest purpose-built museums in the country
The Museum is set in an enclosed grass meadow, beside the ruins of the twelfth-century Walden Castle. The lovely medieval market town of Saffron Walden is on our doorstep, just a short walk away, with its fine parish church, two mazes, the beautiful Bridge End Gardens, and a twice-weekly market.
We look forward to welcoming you to our award-winning, family-friendly museum. We’re open throughout the year and there’s lots to see and do.
