Sibton White Horse Inn

Our thriving 16th century gem is lost amongst the Suffolk countryside, yet just nine miles from historic Dunwich and close to seaside favourites Aldeburgh and Southwold.
If on the outside the White Horse appears fairly unassuming, then step though the front door and be surprised. Wonky walls, huge inglenooks, hefty ship timbers and old pews create a real welcoming charm and evoke on a by-gone era.

Description

We’ve been described as a cosy country gastro-boozer. There is definitely a feeling of comfort, warmth and conviviality about the place and our kitchen’s established a great reputation and won many accolades. The White Horse has a natural pubby feel, no stuffiness; you can pull up a stool, engage and equally enjoy a drink or two.

Our bar is where locals mix with diners and you might find the odd dog snoozing, the wood burner is a big hit on cooler days. Diners find the gallery, raised just of the bar a bit quirky and then there’s our handsome dining room with a bit more comfort. Our forever evolving menus can be enjoyed wherever you plunk down including when the weather is summery in our lovely garden and terrace.

Never has there been more emphasis on good food, there’s been a foodie pub revolution and we are pleased to be a part of it. That doesn’t mean our dishes are pretentious or over complicated, nothing could be further from the truth. Our food is honestly fresh, all home-cooked, tasty and very satisfying.

Happy diners come from happy chefs, it’s critical chefs cook the type of food they love. Our head chef is David Murty, his passion and commitment is big, he lives for his cooking. David’s career has propelled nicely, learning his trade with some highly regarded chefs/establishments, now he’s fitted nicely into our kitchen. David’s boundless enthusiasm is infectious and greatly inspires sous chefs Karl and Gill, together they make a good team.

Behind the team’s continuously changing menus are some simple things; careful selection of prime seasonal ingredients from local [suppliers] including that from our own kitchen garden; sympathetic cooking to retain maximum flavour and texture; balanced contrasting flavours and simple imaginative presentation.

Our lunch menu is available Tuesday to Saturday and ranges from fresh wholesome sandwiches made from our own daily baked bread to classic comforting dishes like ham, egg and chips. Some dishes are available in two sizes, smaller plates for smaller appetites.

Our main menu is designed to treat your taste buds and illustrates food from the counties pastures, meadows, woods, hedgerows and the sea. The main menu is available every evening and lunchtime Tuesday to Saturday. Intriguing daily changing specials simply make your decision making harder.

Sunday without a roast is unimaginable. Our Sunday lunch offering consists of no less than two roasts, two fish and two vegetarian/vegan dishes.

Vegetarians are definitely not neglected and we believe in them having choice. Our vegetarian dishes are equally important to us and receive the same focus as meat dishes. We can cater for vegans but it would be best you advise us in advance. For those with allergy concerns we are always happy to advise and adjust dishes accordingly.

Our kitchen has been consistently recognised for its good food and we are delighted to have achieved so many awards. We proudly hold 2 AA Rosettes given for consistent culinary excellence and have been awarded The Good Pub Guide Suffolk Dining Pub of 2019, the fifth year we have won this award.
