Description

This lovely thatched church is dedicated to St. Edmund, King of East Anglia and martyred by Danish invaders in 872 AD. It dates back to the 13th century.

The church tower also has a squint, an aperture through which lepers were able to view the priest consecrating Holy Communion bread without entering the building. The squint aligns with the gatehouse of St. Benet’s Abbey which can be seen on a clear day.
