Description

With a 400 seat main auditorium, the New Wolsey Theatre is nationally renowned for the quality and diversity of its productions, both as a sole producer, and in collaboration with a diverse range of artists and companies. With a particular reputation for musical work, often employing actor-musicians, the New Wolsey is famed for its annual Rock ‘n’ Roll pantomime and is a leading player in the development of new musicals, staging world premieres of ‘Once,’ ‘It’s a Wonderful Life,’ ’20th Century Boy,’ ‘Mods & Rox,’ ‘Miss Nightingale,’ ‘Midsummer Songs,’ ‘Oxy & the Morons’ and ‘Our Blue Heaven.’

The New Wolsey Theatre has always been a champion of making performing arts accessible to all. As a founder member of the ground-breaking consortium Ramps on the Moon, the New Wolsey is part of a group of theatres striving to normalise the presence of deaf and disabled people on and off the stage. You can find out more about the work of Ramps on the Moon at www.rampsonthemoon.co.uk.

Over the course of 2020, the New Wolsey Theatre underwent a vast refurbishment, restyling the whole of the Front of House space and constructing a new building opposite the main entrance – the golden-roofed building now named ‘NW2.’ This is now the home of the New Wolsey Creative Communities team, housing a participation space for Youth Theatre, offices and a meeting room, as well as an accessible Changing Places facility.

Relaxed and atmospheric, our newly refurbished Café Bar is the perfect place to hang out with friends, work or get a moment to yourself. With opening hours from 10am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, extending into the evenings and weekends for performance times (subject to change), come and enjoy our range of coffee and cake, whether you’re here for a show or not.

Pricing

We have four price bands on the seats in our auditorium, with the cheapest from £12. We have dynamic pricing in operation, meaning that the price of tickets increases with demand (so it’s best to book as early as you can).

Disabled companions get their ticket free. Please contact the Box Office to book if your order includes a companion ticket.

On most performances, people aged under 26 get a discount on their tickets. However, this is subject to change and excludes particular shows, like our annual Rock ‘n’ Roll pantomime.
