The Sweffling White Horse is a 200-year-old pub set in a quiet area of countryside and farmland just outside the village. The pub & its accommodation are in easy reach of the towns of Framlingham & Saxmundham, and a short drive from coastal resorts of Aldeburgh & Dunwich.
This unspoilt and charming pub has no bar – drinks are served through a taproom door – and has been voted one of the top 16 pubs in the country by CAMRA. Ales are sourced from within East Anglia (3 on tap at any time) and poured straight from the cask. Bar snacks and small meals are available. The pub is open 4 evenings a week & 1 lunchtime. 2 fires. Regular live music, plus pub has its own instruments including a piano, guitars & a sitar! Café, shop & two other pubs within walking distance. Great local footpaths through woodland, countryside & farmland. Very friendly locals. Traditional pub games including bar billiards, darts, shove ha’penny etc. Traditional furnishings & décor.
Accommodation comprises a holiday cottage, 2 yurts, a gypsy caravan, bell tent, a tree-hut & some tent pitches. The accommodation is set within an established wildlife garden (formerly the pub’s beer garden).
Although breakfast isn’t available in the pub, the accommodation is all self-catering so either has its own kitchen or access to one – but also a rather lovely café serving all-day breakfasts is within very easy walking distance. Ducks and chickens share the garden with the guests.
