Dedicated to promoting arts, education, and creative engagement, its activities focused on theatre, drama, creative arts, and educational initiatives.
Westacre Theatre, home to Westacre Theatre Company, is situated in rural West Norfolk, near the town of Swaffham, thirty five miles west from Norwich.
The West Acre Arts Foundation Limited is a UK-registered charity (No. 1057258) dedicated to promoting arts, education, and creative engagement. Its activities focus on theatre, drama, creative arts, and educational initiatives. The foundation provides facilities, training, and services to a broad audience, including children, young people, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities, as well as the general public. The charity operates with the help of 12 trustees and approximately 25 volunteers.
Operating in a converted Chapel which serves as a flexible studio space seating 80, the theatre offers a year-round programme of in-house productions, visiting companies, concerts, workshops, cinema screenings and many other events.
Summer productions have been taking place since 1990 attracting audiences from all over East Anglia and beyond with most performances playing to capacity houses.
Casts for our productions are drawn from a remarkably wide area and, although actors are unpaid, the standard of productions is consistently high and Westacre has become synonymous with thought-provoking, challenging, yet hugely enjoyable theatre-going.
In 2008 Westacre Theatre won the IVCA Clarion Award for excellence in Performing Arts and in 2010 Westacre Arts Foundation Ltd won an Ability Media International (AMI) Local Hero Award.
