Nature & Wildlife

If you’re a fan of being outdoors in the open air and enjoying nature and wildlife, then you’ll love the East of England.

There is a huge range of diverse landscape and geography in the region, including the unique Broads National Park, Thetford Forest Park in the historic Brecks, and three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty – Norfolk Coast, Suffolk Coast and Heaths and Dedham Vale, otherwise known as Constable Country.

There are a huge number of National Nature Reserves managed by organisations such as Natural England, the National Trust, RSPB, Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Suffolk Wildlife Trust and Essex Wildlife Trust.

The coast and Broads have some of the best birdwatching in the country, particularly during the winter migrations. Enjoy watching deer in the tranquil setting of country estates or trying spotting them in wild forests. The region has the largest colony of seals found in England, which is easily reached by boat.

There are numerous wonderful gardens to be inspired by, and nature parks such as Pensthorpe, Fairhaven and High Lodge in Thetford Forest.

Switch off the mobile, think about mindfulness and well-being, and simply enjoy the natural world when you visit the East of England. This is the perfect place for a digital de-tox.
