Gallery Plus is jam-packed with colour and inspiration from the moment you walk in!
Our main wall features a collection of framed linocuts by brilliant local printmaker H.J. Jackson.
Born in King’s Lynn in 1938, H.J.Jackson (John to his friends) cut his first lino block during his last year at school in 1953. The print earned him a place at Norwich Art School. He obtained a National Diploma in Graphic Design and subsequently worked in Marketing and Publicity, printmaking during evenings and weekends. Since 1995 he has pursued printmaking full time.
We are stockists of John’s new book – DRAWN TO PRINT – in which he exposes his fascination with the failed M&GN railway, the redevelopment of Norwich in the late 1950s, the varied architecture and landscape of rural/coast Norfolk and the colourful paraphernalia of the fishing industry. This is not simply a collection of linocut prints, but a showcase of the sketches, paintings, preparatory drawings and prints that form John’s artistic process, taking the reader from the first idea to the final linocut – although many ideas never made it to the printmaking stage. A fascinating insight covering 160 pages and made in Norfolk.
Meanwhile, the gallery’s central display celebrates ceramics with a riot of colour and design!
We have stunning work by Tony Laverick, Anne-Marie Jacobs, Richard Baxter, Sylvia K, Dawn Hajittofi (right), Annie McAlister-Dilks and Penny Withers.
Around the gallery’s walls, we have ICM photography by Kevin Smith, paintings by local artist Christine Elliott Grey, along with etchings by Graham Clarke and Anja Percival, plus paintings by Simon Wright and Amelia Mills – so there’s plenty to keep all tastes satisfied!
Glass-makers include Helena Ross, Weston Lambert, AnuschB and Marina e Susanna Sent, and we have a collection of amazingly colourful sulptures by Ralph Shuttleworth.
There is a permanent display of original paintings by resident artist, Trevor Woods (right). His work concentrates on North Norfolk, alongside places he’s visited such as Scotland, Iceland, and Venice, Tuscany, Lanzarote, and Amsterdam.
We also stock a beautiful range of Murano glass jewellery (right) by Marina e Susanna Sent and AnuschB.
We love colour; it’s good for the soul!
