Description

History

The museum was founded in 1973 by a group of aviation enthusiasts who initially recovered WWII aircraft artefacts from local crash sites, a practice known as ‘wreckology’. What started as a small collection has grown into one of East Anglia’s premier aviation museums, housing aircraft, exhibits, and historical displays spanning over a century of flight.

The 446th Bomb Group, stationed at Flixton Aerodrome (Site 125), flew B-24 Liberators during WWII as part of the US Eighth Air Force. Their missions played a crucial role in the air campaign over Europe. Today, the museum honours their legacy, preserving their stories and memorabilia.
