448th Bomb Group Seething Control Tower Museum
A Living Memorial to the 448th Bomb Group
Located on the original Seething Airfield, the Seething Control Tower Museum honours the 448th Bomb Group of the US Eighth Air Force. This beautifully restored wartime control tower serves as a memorial to the airmen who flew from this base, many of whom never returned. With an extensive collection of artefacts, personal accounts, and wartime memorabilia, the museum offers a fascinating insight into the lives of those who served here during World War II.
History
Built during World War II, Seething Airfield was home to the 448th Bombardment Group, which carried out combat missions over Nazi-occupied Europe as part of the US Army Air Force’s strategic bombing campaign.
In the mid-1980s, a group of dedicated volunteers restored the original wartime Control Tower, preserving it as a museum and memorial to the hundreds of young men from the 448th Bomb Group who lost their lives in service. Today, the museum stands as a tribute to their bravery, offering visitors an authentic glimpse into the past.
