How to spend a day on The Broads

The Broads National Park

The Broads

The big skies and sparkling landscape of marshland fields, feathery reeds and tangled woodlands are a perfect canvas for adventure and relaxation - time to reflect, space to explore, a magical opportunity to enjoy a fabulous break.

This is the Venice of the East – in fact, the Norfolk Broads has more miles of waterway than the Italian city! It also has more waterways than Amsterdam!

Wonderful wildlife!

Swallowtail Butterfly

There's no better place than the Broads to get up close to some of the UK's best loved and most spectacular wildlife.

The Broads has booming Bitterns, playful otters and darting Kingfishers, native white waterlilies and rare fen orchids, and this is the only place to see one of Britain's largest, rarest and most beautiful butterflies, the Swallowtail.

Can you canoe?

Canoes on the Broads

If a motor cruiser isn't your thing and you fancy getting those muscles pumping, try canoeing on The Broads. Not only can you trail your fingers in the glistening water, but you get to see the wildlife up close and personal. Without the hum of an engine kingfishers, otters and water voles are just some of the creatures you might see.

A bit peckish?

Pubs on The Broads

Now let's not forget lunch! Norfolk has an amazing selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants making the most of the tasty local produce.

Our favourite has got to be Radleys in Salhouse. An independent coffee shop that stocks delicious cakes made by the Norwich based Mountain Bakery.
