It’s going to be the best weekend for sports-mad kids this summer as a host of international sporting stars welcome them to Holkham Hall and Estate on the Norfolk coast.
We’ve been quarantined for a while, and there’s no doubt that COVID-19 has taken its toll on our wellbeing, so we need something to look forward to.
Rugby legends Will Greenwood and Austin Healey and a host of their sporting pals will be at Holkham Estate from 13-15th August at Festival of Sport, the ultimate weekend for sports-mad families.
Former England cricket captain Sir Andrew Strauss will be on hand to teach youngsters how to bat and bowl, Olympic and World champion Anna Watkins will demonstrate rowing skills, ex-England and Liverpool goalkeeper will show how to save penalties and GB hockey champion Alex Danson will teach the perfect short corner.
Or children might be playing rugby against Rachael Burford, netball with Tamsin Greenway, or pitching their tent next to Who Dares Wins star, Jason Fox. The adults might be having a beer at the bar with Mike Tindall.
Festival of Sport promises all this and more with expert coaching and have-a-go sessions in sports including rugby, netball, cricket, tennis, hockey, rowing, football, gymnastics, athletics, trampolining, climbing, golf and dodgeball.
The event also features live music, outdoor cinema, a wellness area and a Taste of Norfolk food village, with one of the country’s most stunning and unspoilt beaches being just a stone’s throw away.
You can indulge for the whole weekend or just for a day but either way be prepared to be absolutely exhausted and full to the brim with positive energy at the end of it.
