HEAD EAST – Eastern Angles & Streets Alive!

Since 1982 Eastern Angles has been known as the touring theatre company for the East of England, always pushing the boundaries of the region’s cultural offering – This July they’ll be breaking out of the venue mould and performing on the streets of Suffolk with their new project Streets Alive!

Streets Alive aims to capture the magic of Suffolk stories and bring them to life on local high streets. Stilt walking, puppetry and music combine in outdoor performances that will parade through the streets of Suffolk market towns and school playgrounds.  For a taster and preview click here

Speaking about the project, Eastern Angles’ Artistic Director Ivan Cutting said: “This is about getting shoppers back into the town center and generally making the High Street an attractive and exciting place to be, especially where pedestrianization makes it safe and natural to watch the world go by.”

The project will bring two historical figures back to Suffolk – local heroine Margaret Catchpole, who “borrowed” a horse for the ride of her life and a ride through history, and 13th century North African Musician, The Ipswich Man, whose bones were found in a recent excavation of the town’s Greyfriars hospital cemetery.

Streets Alive will tour to school playgrounds on weekdays, with exciting engagement activities for young people to take part in, and then travel to Suffolk market towns for performance parades along local high streets on the weekends.

Streets Alive is sure to be a magical experience that will enchant the whole family for free this Summer!

Free to watch in nine different market towns across Suffolk
