Suffolk and Norfolk were one of 36 Local Visitor Economy Partnerships (LVEPs) that attended a VisitEngland LVEP Showcase in Parliament.
The event was an opportunity for the LVEPs to highlight their work and demonstrate to MPs and Government representatives how LVEPs are driving regional development for the visitor economy.
The event was hosted by former Tourism Minister Nigel Huddleston MP, pictured, who said, ‘As a former Tourism Minister I’ve always championed British tourism, and it was fantastic to see so many familiar faces and industry leaders from Worcestershire and beyond at an event in Parliament today. Our tourism sector is a vital part of the economy, supporting jobs, businesses, and communities across the country.’
Mr Huddleston twice visited Norfolk and Suffolk to see how tourism businesses were recovering and adapting from the Covid pandemic.
From the East of England, VEE executive director Pete Waters was joined by Visit Essex Strategic Tourism Manager Lisa Bone, Head of Partnerships at Visit Hertfordshire Alanna Kite and Rachel Gillis, VisitEngland Regional Development Lead for the East Midlands and East of England.
‘It was a terrific chance to demonstrate the work of LVEPs across England and, from our perspective, highlight how Visit East of England and the new Suffolk and Norfolk LVEP have brought together all local authorities, destination organisations and businesses to produce a Destination Management Plan that will help develop the visitor economy in the next few years,’ said Mr Waters, pictured here with North West Norfolk MP James Wild.
